Excitement, Fear Precede Solar Eclipse

Millions of people across Asia will be witnessing the longest total solar eclipse that will happen this century. It will occur this Wednesday the 23rd. China and Southern Japan will be in complete darkness for about 5 minutes. The eclipse will appear first at dawn in India's Gulf of Khambhat just north of the metropolis of Mumbai. It will move east across India, Nepal, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Bhutan and China before hitting the Pacific. Streams of amateur stargazers and scientists are paying a fortune to travel long distances to witness this once in a lifetime event.
