Glitch leads to adult video on kids channels in NC
March 17, 2010, 9:15 AM EST
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- A cable TV

spokeswoman says preview clips for adult programming appeared on two channels dedicated for kids in North Carolina because of an "equipment failure."
Time Warner Cable Inc. spokeswoman Melissa Buscher said the problem lasted about two hours Tuesday morning in areas around Raleigh, and several parents called to report it.
Buscher said it happened on two "Kids on Demand" channels that were showing viewers a list of children's programming such as "Dora the Explorer." The titles listed didn't match up with the preview videos in the right-hand corner of the screen, which showed a preview of adult programming instead of kids programming.
Buscher said the company regrets the glitch and has fixed the problem so it won't happen again.

What Are Safe Foods I Could Freeze?

Yeah I like to keep leftovers in the refrigerator, for fast reheating of subsequent servings. But really, is putting foods in the freezer are safe? What Can You Freeze? Here is all you've ever wanted to know about freezing and more: Food stored constantly at 0 °F will always be safe. Only the quality suffers with lengthy freezer storage. Freezing keeps food safe by slowing the movement of molecules, causing microbes to enter a dormant stage. Freezing preserves food for extended periods because it prevents the growth of microorganisms that cause both food spoilage and foodborne illness.

1. Cooked Pasta. Cook a pound of bow-ties (firm but not hard) and rotelle are best for this purpose. Then freeze (unsauced) in freezer and put it into a ready container for adding to a hot sauce or microwaving later.

2. Homemade Pasta Sauce. Make a batch and store in containers (be sure to leave a little space at the top for expansion). Cream sauces do not freeze well.

3. Very Ripe Bananas. For an instant protein rich smoothie store ripe bananas in the freezer, peeled, in freezer bags and blend them with skim milk and soy protein powder.

4.Raw bacon, wrapped side-by-side in pairs in parchment or waxed paper and then enclosed in foil is great for keeping portions on hand.

5. Peeled Deveined Shrimp. Thaw shrimp quickly under cool running water to make a tasty meal in a snap. Hope some of this helped! =)

Super dog

Life would much easier if dog superheroes existed. We're not saying it would be perfect, but we think the world would be a safer place if dogs were out there saving lives (and digging holes with super-canine speed). To bide the time until that day comes, we've collected some of the cutest superdogs we could find. We know that some of these aren't technically superheroes in the classic sense, but c'mon, they've got funny costumes on.

Sleep Problems

You seem to get enough sleep, the usual 7-9 hours. But you sleep poorly, wake up irritable, and feel tired all day. There are ways to beat the most common obstacles to a good night’s sleep. Repeated waking in the middle of the night sabotages your sleep in two ways: It prevents you from achieving deep, restful REM sleep and the lost hours of sleep cut into your beauty rest. As soon as you notice this happening, take a few steps to prevent it from becoming habitual. The more you keep thinking and worrying about falling back to sleep it makes it harder to sleep. What you can do is: 1. Keep the room dark when you wake up. Whatever you do, don’t turn on the overhead light in the bathroom once you’re there. Use a mini flashlight to navigate your way to the bathroom, or leave a dim nightlight in the next room with the door cracked. Light is one of the most important external factors that can affect sleep. It does so both directly, by making it difficult for people to fall asleep, and indirectly, by influencing the timing of our internal clock and thereby affecting our preferred time to sleep. 2. DO NOT! I REPEAT DO NOT turn on the TV or computer. Nope, not even for a few minutes. The light from the screen “resets” your internal clock, stimulating your central nervous system and making it harder for you to fall back asleep. 3. Don’t eat unless you’re truly hungry. Getting your digestive system revved up can keep you awake, so avoid snacking unless a growling stomach is going to keep you awake. So try to keep away from foods like preserved and smoked meats, chocolate, energy drinks, and spicy foods. 4. Keep a pen and paper next to your bed. If you’re often kept awake by racing thoughts and worries and you tend to make to-do lists in your head, keep a pen or pencil and a small pad of paper handy and write them down. As you put each item down on paper, imagine yourself setting aside that concern. Hope these tips were helpful. If you’ve done these tips and yet you still have difficulty sleeping go to a local doctor and seek futher information.
